Sirius Black

Yesterday, October 28, 2007 I picked up a 9 year old Thoroughbred gelding named DE North Branch. He raced for a time then became a dressage horse. He then came up lame. Owner spend thousands on him in medical bills but his lameness persisted. Unable to afford two dressage horses, she gave Sirius to a good friend. The friend took good care of Sirius but was uneasy around him due to his size. He came into my possession and will have a forever home here at the farm.

Jumpin' Jack Flash

The same day I found out about Chili's heart murmurs I decided that he and I should go ahead and pick up a little one-eyed Arabian/QH cross colt that I had looked at previously.

Jerry James who is now named Jumpin' Jack Flash is a pretty little sorrel colt who lost an eye when his mother rejected him. She was really too young to have a baby and didn't know how to care for Jack. He became an orphan and was cared for by Habitat For Horses. The lady that was fostering him really liked him but didn't know alot about babies and she was a little afraid of him, so I agreed to foster him and now I am going to adopt him.
He's a sweet little baby that only wants love and attention. He has Rohan as his nanny and seems to be adjusting to everything quite well.

Jumpin' Jack Flash is a gas, gas, gas!

Chili

My alpha gelding, Chili, was seen by his vet on Tuesday the 9th of October to have his teeth floated. Instead we found out he has three heart murmurs. I still don't have the words to express how I feel.
He now pretty much does what he wants, I ask very little of him. He seems very content to stay in the barn or in his stall, kick back and enjoy the quiet.
He keeps losing weight. That, I think is related to his age not his heart. He seemed to go down hill so fast, or maybe like most things time has a habit of stealing the best from all of us...
